Is it because I like to talk and be heard? Yeah, I do. Is that so bad? It can be. There is a "proverb" that says
The Wise speak when they have something to say.
The Fool speaks when he has to say something.
I think it's true, and often of me I would say. But what is even worse than being counted a fool (fools can still know Christ by God's grace and go to heaven) is the sin of making words meaningless and even burdensome. Why? because Christ is a word, the Word of God. He was the word that came with grace and truth, effective for our salvation, and true to everything he promised.
So I don't think we become better stewards of words by never using them. We ought to use them, indeed we must use them. Yet, may God give us grace to understand the glory, the fall and the redemption of words, so that we may honor Christ.
